By the Books

Ok so I may not be the best or fastest blogger but I am trying ;)

I am very busy working on orders, a trunk program and planning a Holiday line so you can imagine how haywire it can get around here. Blogging is important but not always at the top of my list. And yes I still do make some of the items you have ordered myself.

I am really going to be the multi-tasking queen come next week. Not only do I have Loves Me Not to oversee but now just like all of you dynamic woman out there I too will become the Soccer Mom. Practice 2x a week with 2 girls and games on the weekend. Will certainly be an adjustment on top of the homework and play dates and yes of course the sewing.

School is back in full swing and I am back to entertaining my 3 year old as I work here at home. Not the easiest thing to do, she can only count and sort so many buttons. Though I think I will take the entertaining over the bickering any day of the week. Siblings do like to bicker! I had 4 sisters growing up and I can say that I do not remember arguing or teasing as much as my girls do, but must be my short term memory? Sisters are great and I am only so lucky to have 4 wonderful ones within an arms reach any time I need them.

Catching Up

That is what I have been doing, besides working on getting Mish Mash all lined up and some other tidbits.

I promise to answer each and every one's emails, it is jut taking some time to sift through it all. And WOW, I am so happy to hear about how many of you would like to possibly join the team! Really truly excited and I can't wait to share once it is all finalized. I want to be sure it is just right and I am not one to rush things.

I am also working on finishing up our traveling trunk program. If you are interested in hosting a show shoot me an email and I will get back to you. Who doesn't love getting free stuff? And that is just a part of it. I am settling on what Mish Mash pieces to include as well as Holiday.

September is just around the corner which means kids are in school, the leaves start to change and I can savor the crisp cool fall air I love so much. Holiday line will soon be in the works and I plan on having everything ready to ship so you can get your hands on the goods quicker, it's all about immediate gratification. Tell that to my husband. When I see something I want it now, I am not so good at waiting. Kind of funny how I am on that other side now huh?

I promise to get back to each and every one of your emails soon, this is all new to me and after all there is just ME. I am only a one man show here so I am going to need some help with things like emails and inquiries :)

Thought I would address some of the more frequently asked questions here first :

When will my order ship?

Orders will ship in 4-6 weeks. I strive to get them to you as quickly as I possibly can. This is still a new process to me and though Summer went smoothly, I like to say 4-6 weeks and get them to you sooner if I can.

How can I become a Consultant?

We are in the works of putting a program together and will get back to you regarding the Spring 2010 season.

Will there be a restock on sold out items?

The blue Mary Janes in both colors are sold out. Some items have been restocked on the website today.

Shipping

We do charge shipping of our items. After all how would I get them from me to you? If you have already ordered once and wish to order again, I cannot issue refunds for shipping. It is just part of the whole having your own website thing and I am sure you can imagine what a job this would be sifting through countless emails and figuring out charges. So thank you for being so understanding :) I am working on this issue and in the future will offer a shipping discount very soon.

I always am surprised by what is the top seller and what is not and I seriously think Ms. Birdie needs some love and the Oaties which are one of my favorite's this season!

Excitement!

I am so excited to share with all of you! I have worked very hard to get this all together and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

I had to stop myself late last night as I was working on the website adding some items. I actually sat down and started to cut out a new idea I had and then sewed it up half way and then I thought "what am I doing?". Delirious, yes. I need to focus and finish what I have done now and not worry about new items.

Plan is still to launch the website on Thursday sometime. I will post here, on the Facebook fan page and send an email out to past shoppers to let you all know. I do not have a time, it will just have to be when I finish everything up.

The site is fully shoppable with a cart. Just like most other sites, the items you place in your cart are only guaranteed once you check out.

I have tons to do today to get everything ready on top of some yard work, yes yard work.

Getting Closer...

by the day here and I cannot determine whether I am more excited or nervous? This new website is very exciting and I just pray it all works smoothly for us on my end.

I have of course last minute pieces that I will end up photographing myself. I work well under pressure I guess! I have some super sweet tees to share with you this season too, available in short or long sleeved.

Orders will be just like they were for Summer. All orders will be collected off of the website and I will submit my order to the manufacturer along with my fabrics and patterns and within a few weeks voila...it will be ready! I anticipate a 4 week window, possibly 5 at the most, which is why I am launching this early August when it is still hot outside. You will get all of your goodies just in time for the cooler weather. I plan on changing the way I do things as we grow.

the very last minute

It seems like I get some of my favorite or best work done at the last minute. I can stare at stacks of fabric off and on for a few days and only get my inspiration at the last minute. I think I must enjoy the pressure of doing everything last minute?

Getting closer to finishing up and I really am excited to share all of the wonderful model shots I have popping into my email box. Here are a couple I got today and I think she is just the sweetest thing! Annie does wonderful work.

We are hoping to make a short trip up to my family's lake this weekend for some tubing and skiing before school starts. Nothing like a sunny day at the lake with the family to have a great time!

Burning the midnight oil

That has been my theme this week. Lots and lots of piecing together colors and sewing. You should see my house right now, complete disorganization!

I plan on launching the line Mish Mash late next week, but i dont want to promise anything just in the case there is something I missed with the website or some other surprise I have not thought of yet. I promise to give you all fair notice as some of the pieces are "limited" due to the amount of fabric I have.

I am excited about so many of the new pieces I have this Fall to share with all of you and I hope you like them! I have a few that are reversible. So you get 2 looks in 1 piece and double the wear. My youngest loves that as she is constantly changing outfits!

Summer has finally decided to show up here in Colorado. Seriously. It has been raining and not too hot this year. Yep just in time for back to school. Isn't that how it always works?

But for now I am going to go finish up one of the last pieces I had planned and then I think I can say I am done........I hope. I walk by my stacks of bolts of beautiful fabrics and a new color combination pops at me and then there I go back to the sewing machine!

Mish Mash

I have been quiet the busy bee these past 2 weeks. Wearing more than enough hats to fit my head and I still am not done with the work for Fall Season to begin.

Samples have been sent of in the mail to be photographed and I hope to have my website up and ready to go for you all to see later the week of Aug 10th. For now this will have to do.... All of your shopping can be done in one place and you no longer have to use Etsy. Though I will keep my shop open there and still offer some one of a kind pieces when I get the creative bug. Once I get my photos back I promise to share some sneeks!

I think I have settled on the name "Mish Mash" not only because it is cute and catchy but it truly is an eclectic mix of fabrics and styles. Nothing makes any bit of sense as far as a "streamlined fabric collection" I have included a little bit of this and a little bit of that, so hopefully everyone will find something she likes :) thank you all for your wonderful suggestions - I could not choose!

I also have new patterns I am introducing this time. Be ready for some pieces that offer "double" the wear and as always some cute and comfy knits. I also plan on offering a women's skirt though I have not made it as of today...so last minute, I guess the creative pressure will get to me!
