Work it out

We are getting closer :). The collection consists of 18 total pieces and 2 matching women's pieces that makes it 20. Yeah I said small and I think I got carried away a bit but there will be plenty of styles to fit your taste.

I should have most pieces loaded up to the website so you can see them before the shopping cart gets activated mid week.

We have to go meet with an accountant today to do our taxes, one of my least favorite times of year. I am not a bookworm nor a math wiz I leave that up to Steve. I would rather go do cardio than go, and I do not like cardio. I so struggle with it and stare at the timer and no matter what I do I keep counting down the time until I can get off the machine.

Have any tips for a cardio workout that makes things a bit easier for you? Leave a comment and I will be sure to share some sweetness with one lucky lady.

Listen to your favorite music or watch a favorite television program while you do cardio. Also, if I run outside instead of on the treadmill, it goes a lot faster for me.

Good Luck! Jodi

What makes cardio easier for me is running (or walking) with a friend. We get time to catch up and we (almost) forget we're exercising!

My cardio consists of twisting the corks out of wine bottles. Good luck with the tax-man. :|

Can not wait for the new line gorgeous!!! I must have that Paris twirl dress..I have been dreaming of it the last few nights..
I might need a therapist;)

2 things that make cardio easier for me-

1. music that gets you going. My favs right now are Mika-grace kelly, and Usher- yeah.

2. I do intervals so like normal on the machines for 3 min then as hard and fast as I can for 3 min. Makes me feel like I'm getting a break in there and really helps the time go quicker. Plus I heard it is better to work out like that anyway=)

Either take a friend or your ipod, this will make it go a little faster!

Can't wait for the launch, I'm really excited :)

You've done a great job (as always)

It is all a mental game. Try and get thru the first three minutes, then make it to five minutes, then make it to ten minutes. By that time you have your groove and can make it 30 minutes and your DONE!!!

Also, music helps alot. I have in my mind (again mental) I need to listen to 10 songs. It really isn't 10 it is more like 8 but I always tell myself 10. I play mind games with myself.

This collection is incredible! I cannot wait to see it in its entirety!

As for passing time on a treadmill, I typically:

* Cover the timer so you can't stare at it! Sometimes I will challenge myself to go as long as possible without "peeking" and I can't tell you how many times I have "peeked" only to find 2 (or less!) minutes remaining!
* Set small milestones: incline for 5 minutes, etc.
* Listen to your FAVORITE music, watch your favorite TV program, or chat with a friend!
* THINK - perhaps it is because my time on the treadmill means a break from my darling kiddos ... but it is usually when I feel I can best organize my thoughts, plan out the week, and think creatively!

Best of luck with your upcoming collection!

taking a friend with you and going outside really helps, even if the weather stinks, fresh air does wonders :) and time will fly as the scenery around you :)

Things that make cardio easier - not doing it!! I walk alot and luckily, that's enough for me!! I love your new collection, it's all so gorgeous!

My iPod is a necessity for cardio. I fill it with songs that make me laugh (mainly cheesy 80's tunes with a good beat). Also, going to a gym helps me. If I make the effort to get there, I'll usually stick it out for the whole workout. I get too distracted at home. Can't wait for your new collection!!!

Music would help but I prefer the obvious and dont do it! LOL

Our gym has tvs on the wall. I love to go when Ellen or The View are on. They entertain me, time passes quickly, and I don't watch the clock! Without that distraction, I'd be a clock watcher for sure!

I'm about to pee my pants at the cuteness. For real. And I am with you on the cardio - I try to eat less instead - of course that doesn't work either. Sighs.

I have no tips on the cardio - I'm going to go read the suggestions and see if there are any that can help me get going too! Love the sneak peaks, I can't wait to see it all together!

Jen said...

My biggest tip is just to do it first thing in the morning when I wake up--then, it's out of the way, and I feel good/glad I did it the rest of the day. My elliptical and treadmill are in front of the TV, too---that def. helps to pass the time ;)

By far what has always helped me is some great tunes on the i-pod.....or watching tv......honestly, treadmill running, walking, etc. is tough!! I prefer the outdoors......but that is so hard to do in the winter...with snow everywhere...lol!! So, load up that Ipod with some rocking tunes :)

i am so in love with you stuff, i have 3 girls now, what am i going to do?? Thanks!!~Shevaun

Aaah, I'm drooling! I can't wait to see every piece!

My cardio consists of walking from the fridge to the couch, so I have no tips other than hip hop music always seems to make me work up a sweat faster!

CHERISH is SO PRETTY Amy! I LOVE IT and cannot wait for it's release!

As for cardio, I hate it, too. I'll tell you my trick and hopefully it will work for you.

I think of memories, it can be anything really. I tend to pick ones from when my older children were small and sweet or from a time when my grand-father was still alive (he died when I was 9).

I concentrate hard and try to bring back everything I can about the memory. I get so caught up that the cardio just goes by. It is SO GOOD to dedicate that time as it CEMENTS those thoughts into my being and soul. When I am done I feel as though I have accomplished SO MUCH and I HAVE! I feel so refreshed as I've just worked out my mind at the same time, preserving those sweet things we never want to forget but rarely have time in every day life to dedicate time to.

Send me a quick note if you try it and find that it works for you :)

Seriously can't wait for the launch! I am going to have to close my door at work if it is during the workday so noone will bother me. LOL

Some tips on the exercising...
After yrs of trying to find a routine that works for me, I finally found one.

Here are some key points from mine.
---Make relastic goals. This one is huge! I attempt to work out 3 times a week. But if I don't, I don't. I never work out on the weekends. Ever. I give myself 1 week a month to not exercise at all. Love this week :)

--Because time is my biggest obstacle with exercising, I work out hard in less time, then working out longer at an easier pace. I am done with my cardio/ab toning in 30 minutes!

-Music, music! Put some music on your ipod to get you going.

Good luck!
Amy Z.

I go to the mall and park as far as possible away from the furthest store I want to go to.
I figure lugging all the packages back to my car combines cardio and weight training... :)

Lisa said...

Start working out with a friend. It makes you go more as you don't want to let your friend down and it makes the time go faster to have someone to work out with and laugh with.

I am so excited for your spring goodies! Ruffles are my absolute fave - this coming from a girl who used to tint her hair black, wear a black Danzig shirt and hang out with the other skateboarders!!
I think the best way to do a cardio workout is: take your puppy and let him pull you!!! It's so fun watching them get out and run with their little tongues hanging out of their mouths and a smile plastered to their face.
Hope you have a doggy, or I will be a big loser!! ;)

Have you tried Zumba? It distracts you enough to help you forget you're actually doing cardio! I too struggle with this. I'd rather be on the tennis court than on the treadmill. Good luck!

so cute! Can't wait to see it all.

I love my cardio classes esp when I can meet a friend there- like someone who is only 15 minutes away and should start going to the gym with me!! (a cute instructor helps too)

I vote Zumba. I just tried it for the first time a couple months ago and I love it! Funnest (is that a word?) workout I've had in a long time!!! I just got back to working out in Oct.(after about a 9 year break LOL) and I started the couch to 5k program with a goal of doing a race. My first race is this weekend and I'll be running the whole thing!!

Can't wait to see all the pieces, they are all beautiful.

As for a cardio workout, my ipod with fast dance tunes really help me.

I say change up your routine and throw some classes in there....I can do a hard workout in class way easier than run for an hour....maybe try spinning class or a combo aerobic/weights class. It goes by pretty fast that way....I throw running in there every other day or so....good luck and can't wait to see the rest!

no advice on the cardio - except when I find out how much we owe in taxes this year :) Beautiful collection Amy, great work!

Shopping is my cardio! Just kidding...music helps me get through a workout.

I enjoy spinning. If you haven't tried it you should. Yes it's still a work out but you get to listen to music and zone out. Sometimes I even close my eyes and forget about all those lists in my head. You clothes are perfect and so on track this season. From the color to the cut and fabric, this is one list that I will enjoy remembering!!

OK, I HATE cardio, just like you. I stand there on the elliptical machine just watching that timer until I hit 30 min and then can get off. (My husband laughs at me, too, because I used to do it in slow motion and not even break into a sweat - it was that bad!) I recommend a TV nearby so you can channel surf an hopefully get distracted, and if you are going to a gym - I tried out the newest elliptical equipment two weeks ago and for the first time ever, I actually lost track of time while doing cardio - yes it was close to a miracle. I'll look at the name of the thing the next time that I go b/c I've been calling it the MIRACLE MACHINE, but I'm sure that's not the real name.

I always tape my favorite shows to watch for my cardio days! Criminal Minds and Cold Case are my favorites!

So I am probably the only man to have ever posted a comment on your blog ... but my wife has been asking me for weeks now to visit your blog to see your upcoming collection. I must say that I am impressed and I am actually looking forward to seeing our little one in a few of your clothing items.

I know you said that your would "share some sweetness with one lucky lady" ... but in the chance that I am selected, I would like to nominate my daughter to be that lucky lady! I live in the land of Mountains (Colorado) and to make my cardio workouts less painful, I go outdoors and consider myself blessed to have such an incredible view of the mountains! Of course, my ipod helps, too! And finally, being in the military forces me to stay in shape. Perhaps you could join? :)

Wow, Amy... 45 comments!! You are getting sooooo popular!! Totally awesome for you =)! Love the outfit you posted in this post... love, love, love!!!!

I have no cardio advice... but I rather go for a 30 minute brisk walk than using any cardio machines.

Lovin that cream tunic/dress!

Ok so I watch the trashiest TV I can find, usually Housewives or Kardashians something like that and I set the machine pretty high, just under a jog/extremely fast walking and every commercial break I run like I am being chased by the boogie man, I know I only to do it for a few minutes and that gets me through it,so glad when the show comes back and then the jog seems so much easier.

Hope the tax man is easy on you!

OK...I'll share my secret! I think about all the food I'm gonna eat after I'm done with said torture device! Donuts......big bag of Doritos....a turkey sandwich from Subway...with LOTS of mayo and bacon. You'll be amazed at how time flies!

(or wait...maybe that's just because I think about a LOT of food! Hmmmmmmm.)

Everything is gorgeous Amy! No surprise there!

It can be so boring, but oh so necessary. What works best for me is when I'm so distracted that I don't realize I'm exercising. Try Podcasts, especially the ones that make you laugh, or recharge you spiritually. A really good book on tape, or if you have a TV nearby, schedule your time when you're "have to see" show comes on. Mix in some fun music or even work out & brain storm new clothing designs. Use a voice recorder and put your thoughts into words. Just DON'T think about the laundry, dishes, dusty furniture, errands or other work you need to do or you'll never get to your exercise goal. Give yourself a reward if you make your goal.

I started walking to the gym with the kids instead of driving - the gym is about 2.5 miles away. I figure if I walk really fast there - do weights or a class and then do the same back I am getting my cardio in and don't have the option of stopping early. I despise walking/running on the treadmills - I get bored. :)

Rachel K. said...

I don't go to the gym for cardio anymore. I just ride my husbands bike outside. I think the key for me at least is to be outside. Maybe it would work for you too.
